For those who need some major work done, the Ford Super Duty has been at the top of the list when it comes to popularity, and reliability. The truck is back with some tweaks for 2025, but how does it fare against the 2024 model? That’s what we’re here to find out. These are the 2025 Ford Super Duty upgrades over the 2024 version explained.
Key takeaways
- Even though the 2025 is newer and comes with more features, the price doesn't reflect it. Coming in at a slightly higher price that won’t break the bank.
- The 2025 Super Duty comes with some new colors as well, making it stand out from its older siblings.
- When properly equipped, you can tow up to 40,000 pounds.
Is Ford changing the Super Duty in 2025?
While the truck hasn’t seen a major refresh, or anything of the sort for 2025, Ford did do some shuffling of the features. The XLT and Lariat both see the 6.8L V8 as the standard engine. The King Ranch, and Platinum now has the 2-Kw Pro Power Onboard setup as optional. Onboard Scale system and Smart Hitch are now available on the King Ranch. The XL sees the trailer brake controller become optional.
If you were a fan of the Super Cab configuration, then your options have been limited to the XL, and XLT. If you're planning on doing a lot of towing, then you may want to look for the available individual tire pressure monitoring for the trailers and the ability to add auxiliary cameras.
The Platinum and Lariat trims also see their own individual upgrades. The Platinum now features a Black Onyx cabin with Platinum Blue accents and a black exterior trim. While the Lariat gets a new seating material. If you’re still wanting some extra flair for the Platinum, then you’ll be pleased to know that there’s a new package that adds a chrome trim, and exclusive leather upholstery as well as new color schemes.
Last but not least, you can find two new colors for the lineup, making it even better looking than the year prior.
While there’s tons of reshuffled features, and some new features for 2025, you may not be convinced that it’s worth the purchase, so we’ll dive a bit deeper.
How much is the F250 King Ranch 2025?
The 2025 F250 King Ranch starts at $76,975.
Taking a look at prices for both the 2025, and 2024 will reveal that sometimes newer doesn't always mean more expensive.
Breaking it down into categories, we’ll start with the F-250 lineup.
- The XL starts at $45,300 for 2025, and $44,970 in 2024.
- The XLT starts at $51,295 for 2025, and $51,105 in 2024.
- The Lariat starts at $64,740 for 2025, and $62,410 in 2024.
- The King Ranch starts at $76,975 for 2025, and $76,975 in 2024.
- The Platinum starts at $77,865 for 2025, and $77,865 in 2024.
The 2024 F250 saw the Limited trim on the lineup, but the price makes it hard to miss if you weren’t interested in it in the first place. The Limited came in at $97,095. Almost $20,000 more expensive than the 2025 lineup topping Platinum.
Going to the 350 next, you will find much of the same fluctuations in prices.
- The F-350 XL starts at $46,595, while the 2024 started at $46,015.
- The F-350 XLT starts at $52,600, the 2024 started at $52,160.
- The F-350 Lariat starts at $66,040, the 2024 started at $63,460.
- The F-350 King Ranch starts at $78,275, the 2024 started at $78,025.
- The F-350 Platinum starts at $79,165, the 2024 started at $78,915.
Much like the F-250, the 2025 F- 350 sees the lack of the Limited trim. The 2024 F-350 nears the $100,000 mark, sitting at $98,270.
The last Super Duty is for those who want to do the heaviest jobs with ease. This is the F-450, And while it has a higher price tag, you’re almost guaranteed to be able to do any job that you might encounter.
- The XL starts at $59,955, up from $59,455 in the year prior.
- The XLT starts at $67,295, up from $66,695 in 2024.
- The Lariat starts at $80,165, up from $79,665 in 2024.
- The King Ranch starts at $92,590, up from $92,090 in 2024.
- The Platinum starts at $94,035, up from $93,525 in 2024.
If you thought the price was already too high on the other Limited Super Duty models, then the F-450 Limited isn't for you. This one crosses the $100,000 mark. Making it one of the most expensive pickups in the world, it sits at $104,030.
While this price tag may seem astonishing for all of the Limited trims, Carfax has given it a positive review. They say that all of them “combine incredible capability with everyday comfort and luxury.” As well as stating that the “luxurious Limited gives you heated and ventilated leather seats, adaptive cruise control, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, and more chrome than you can shake a fender at.” Giving a few reasons why this price tag is where it’s at.
Which Super Duty trim and powertrain are for me?
If you’re looking for some recommendations for a truck you should get, Car and Driver has you covered. They state that they “recommend the F-250 version with the spacious crew cab, standard 6.8-foot cargo bed, and single-rear-wheel axle.”
As for the trim level, they suggest the “mid-level Lariat trim, which we think provides the best mix of creature comforts for the price.”
If you want the most power possible for the trim, they suggest that you “opt for the high-output Power Stroke diesel engine; it commands significant upcharge, but if serious towing and hauling are on the agenda, it's hard to beat.”
The high-output Power Stroke diesel engine is also known as the 6.7L High Output Power Stroke V8 Turbo Diesel B20 Engine that is capable of generating 500 horsepower, as well as 1,200 lb-ft of torque.
The specs of this engine are impressive, but when you add max towing capacities, it makes it even better. When maxed out with the 450, you can tow up to 40,000 pounds when properly equipped. The 350 is slightly less powerful sitting at 38,000 pounds. If you’re wondering if the Ford Super Duty is right for the job, there’s only one answer, and that’s a resounding “yes”.
The 2025 Super Duty sees 8 options to pick from.
While the Super Duty sees two new colors join the lineup, it also sees some returning colors. The new colors you’ll find are Avalanche, and Ruby Red. For the returning colors, you will find Agate Black, Glacier Gray, Star White, Carbonized Gray, and Antimatter Blue.
If you opt for the Platinum, then you may find that it comes with a unique color that is named Darkened Bronze.
While there’s tons of great things about the 2024, we’d also recommend the 2025 given that it comes with some reshuffled features, as well as new colors, with a price that isn't much higher than the year before. You need to decide which features matter to you and more importantly what powerhouse you need
