2021 Ford F-250 vs Ram 2500

The 2021 Ford-250 features a sharp design and a practical layout, with straightforward controls and cabin materials that can handle the mess. Each trim offers more features, with the base trim offering air conditioning, vinyl upholstery, manual windows, and a rearview camera. Higher level trims offer features such as, a panoramic sunroof, a two-tone leather interior; and upscale options that include ambient lighting, heated and cooled front seats, massaging seats, and wireless charging. The F-250 Super Duty is available in six trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum and Limited; and ranges from a stripped-out work truck to a luxury cruiser. There are three cab configurations with all trims; except the King Ranch is configured as a regular cab, an extended cab, or a crew cab, and either a 6.8- or 8.2-foot bed length. Pricing starts at $37,955 for the XL trim and ranges to $88,055 for the top-of-the-line Limited edition.

The biggest addition this year to the Ram 2500 is the addition of the Limited Night Edition. It adds monochromatic exterior elements, including 20-inch black wheels, grilles and badging. The Ram is comfortable with a nice interior and a modern design, featuring different interior materials and passenger space with each trim. It is standard with Regular cab and available with Crew cab or Mega cab, with multiple cab configurations and two bed lengths. The Regular cab is standard with an 8-foot cargo box; and Crew cab or Mega cab are available in 8-foot or 6-foot 4-inch cargo box. Trims include Tradesman, Big Horn, SLT, Laramie, Power Wagon, Limited, and Longhorn. Pricing starts at $36,040 for the Tradesman trim and ranges to $58,975 for the Longhorn trim.

The basic work Ford F-250 truck offers a four-speaker audio system and 4.2-inch infotainment screen and gauge cluster display. Higher models offer an easy-to-use Sync 3 infotainment system, with an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. It also can be upgraded with a 11-speaker B&O stereo and SiriusXM satellite radio. Standard on the basic XL is a rearview camera, and a telescoping tow mirror. Available driver-assist technology includes adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, front automatic emergency braking, trailer sway control, and a 360-degree view camera system. An Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System, with a total of seven cameras is offered in higher trim levels.

The heavy-duty Ram is equipped with a long list of driver-assistance technology including available forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control. A newly available Digital Rearview Mirror features an LCD monitor that, when switched on, provides a real-time video stream from a rear-facing camera. It also features an available 360-degree Surround View Camera with Trailer Reverse Guidance View. An intuitive infotainment system with simple menus and prompts comes with 8.0-inch touchscreen or an available 12.0-inch reconfigurable touchscreen. This system features navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; as well as five USB ports and up to three 115-volt outlets for your devices.

Depending on the configuration of the F-250 super Duty, it will be available with three powertrains: a 6.2-liter V8 with 385 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, a 7.3-liter with 430 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque, and a 6.7-liter turbocharged-diesel V8 with 475 horsepower and 1050 lb-ft of torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission is paired with the latter two engines and a six-speed automatic transmission is paired with the 6.2-liter engine. Crew cab models with 4WD and the 6.2-liter can tow 12,500 pounds and Regular cab models with RWD and the diesel engine can pull 15,200 pounds. For gooseneck or fifth-wheel towing, capacity ranges from 12,500 pounds in crew cab, 4WD, 6.2-liter gas V-8 models, to 22,800 pounds in regular cab, RWD, diesel V-8 models. Payload reaches a maximum 4,260 pounds when properly equipped. A Tremor Package bundles popular off-road equipment to let the F-250 cover tough terrain.

The 2021 Ram 2500 is a heavy-duty version of the quarter-ton Ram 1500. A 6.4-liter V8 gas engine is standard on all trucks and makes 410 horsepower. A 6.7-liter turbodiesel inline-6 puts out 1,000 pounds feet of torque. Rear-wheel drive is standard and four-wheel drive is available in all trucks. Its Crew cab models offer a maximum payload of 2,380 pounds and maximum trailer-weight rating of 19,010 pounds; and with its stronger engine, it can haul 3,240 pounds and pull 16,870 pounds.
